(Failed sexy pose, morning stretches, or itchy head? Hard to tell…)
We’re still in the depths of winter here on the coast, but spring fever is beginning to hit. The extra dry, cold weather that just precursors spring turns my skin from dewy to a flaky mess overnight. I’ve been craving some creamier formulas rather than my usual powder products, as well as an even more simplified makeup routine (something I can throw on in 5 minutes).
While I love the makeup I’ve been using for the last year, I haven’t bought many full-size products, instead opting for a mash of more affordable trial-sizes. But I finally tired of that and treated myself to a few much-needed full-sized items to fill out my collection.
For spring, I’m focusing on base products with extra pure ingredients to give my skin a little TLC.
RMS Beauty “Un” Cover-Up
I tried a sample of RMS “Un” Cover-up concealer a few months ago, using it as a foundation, and FELL IN LOVE. It was comfortable, smooth, and looked quite fine in photos if I do say so myself. I was worried about the coconut oil base, but after removing my makeup at the end of the day you’d have thought I’d just been to get a facial. Since I don’t wear makeup every day, I’m hoping I’ll be able to get away with it. The ingredients are incredibly minimal and while the coverage isn’t full, I was pleased with it + concealer — I want my skin to breathe this season anyways.
Han Skin Care Cosmetics Concealer
I’ve heard so many good things about this particular product since researching the brand HAN. I still love my Hynt Beauty concealer, but I have a sneaking suspicion it might be contributing to some breakouts, so I’ve been on the lookout for something new. Described as having a mousse consistency with a little going a long way, this sounds like a lovely, full-coverage product — perfect to pair with the RMS Beauty foundation.
Cocokind Highlighter Stick in Mai-Light
You may remember this product from my last green beauty wish list. I specifically chose this highlighter because of the simple, good-for-skin ingredients. Mai-Light is a beautiful shade of rose gold that, from what I can tell, doesn’t look too pink on the skin. I look for a very natural, dewy effect in a highlighter, and I think this will fit the bill.
Han Skin Care Cosmetics Bronzer in Malibu
Granted this isn’t a cream product, but I don’t want to be an oily mess either! I think bronzer is a perfect place to slip in a powder product on an otherwise dewy look, and this Malibu shade from Han Skin Care Cosmetics is calling my name. With my pale skin I have the hardest time finding a bronzer that isn’t too dark or too orange. This one looks beautifully neutral. (If you’re a fan of Too Faced cosmetics, I’ve been told by several people this is a non-toxic dupe for their Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer)
Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Last Looks Cream Blush in Flush
Phew, that was a name. I’ve been on the hunt for a perfect blush for…years? Everything I fall in love with online is either too red or purple on my skin tone, so I’ve been testing out nude colors. I’ve heard lovely things about this cream blush, especially that it’s easy to blend. Their Flush color is described as a nude beige, perfect for a natural flush (duh).
Here’s just a couple of products that were super close in the running but didn’t make the “final cut:”
Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Flawless Serum Foundation
This foundation looks just as advertised — flawless. I chose to pass up on it this time around because I wanted something with fewer ingredients since I’m having some skin issues at the moment. If the RMS Beauty Un Cover-up doesn’t work out for me, this is next.
Ere Perez Oat Milk Foundation
I’ve been curious about this foundation for quite a few months now. I’ve heard it works well with dry skin, but is a little fuller coverage and has a tendency to rub off. Since I wanted something lighter and more natural for spring to allow my skin to breathe, I passed up on this one for now, but I have it a feeling it will come back around in the fall.
Han Skin Care Cosmetics Illuminator in Champagne
I’ll be even more curious to try this highlighter if I end up loving the concealer and bronzer. This illuminator looks beautiful but slightly more glittery than what I gravitate towards in a highlighter. Again, I wanted to keep my spring makeup very natural-looking. Perhaps I’ll be brave enough to try this another time.
What’s on your spring clean beauty wish list (see what I did there?)? Also, let me know if you’d like to see reviews on any of these products!
